Hello all new and returning volleyball families!
This is an eventful week of volleyball participation. This Wednesday August 23rd, City Christian is hosting a referee practicum (2pm-4pm). This means we will be scrimmaging as the refs in our district learn and practice how to call a volleyball game. This can be a really fun event that showcases City sportsmanship and Christian character. I hope to see you all there!
Immediately following the scrimmage (4:15pm), training will be available for score-keeping and line-judging. These skills are essential to the smooth operation of volleyball competitions. I encourage every player and parent to learn how to participate in this way. The more people who are trained to help, the more others will have the opportunity to be spectators. Volunteering at home games is also an easy way to complete your volunteer hours for the school year. Please be there on Wednesday so this season can run smoothly and professionally.
We also have a Jamboree this week! Our Varsity team will be competing at Western Mennonite this Thursday August 24th starting at 10am. [Western Mennonite requests that all teams come prepared to score, line-judge, and track libero when they are not on the court. Therefore it is very important for all players to be trained at the ref practicum on Wednesday.] Stay tuned for departure times. We hope that every available player is present at this game. We have already begun to make decisions about team placements based on practices thus far. If you haven’t already made it to a volleyball practice, I hope to see you there tomorrow! (10am-1pm)
Lastly we have a tournament at Columbia Christian this Saturday, August 26th. [The time is TBD] As you can see, there is a lot going on this week for City Christian Volleyball. We have been preparing and conditioning all month, and we are excited to compete. Thank you for taking the time to read through these announcements, and I will be seeing you all very soon!
